Sydney Ch'ng MBBS, PhD, FRACS, FACS

Associate Professor Sydney Ch’ng is a Head & Neck and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA). She is Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Sydney, and Academic Head for Plastic Surgery at RPA.

She currently chairs the Education Committees at MIA and the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. During her surgical training, she participated in the surgeon-scientist training pathway, and was awarded a PhD in Tumour Biology in Head Neck Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Post-FRACS, she undertook almost 3 additional years of fellowship training in head and neck ablative and reconstructive surgery (Sydney Head & Neck Cancer Institute, NSW), advanced oncological reconstructive surgery (MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX) and adult craniofacial surgery (Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan).

Her busy fully-integrated clinical and academic practice focuses on melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, parotid surgery, microsurgery, facial symmetrisation (including for facial palsy) and rejuvenation. She delivers evidence-based and patient-centred care where clinical, cosmetic and functional outcomes are optimised. She has published >100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 15 book chapters. She is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Aidan Fitzgerald MB., Ch.B., FRCS(Ed), FRCS(Eng), FRCS(Glas), FRCS(Plast), M.Phil., PGCME, M.Ed., Ed.D

Aidan Fitzgerald qualified in 1988 from Liverpool University and has been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon since 2003 in Sheffield with an interest in surgery of the Head & Neck and Skin Cancer.

He trained as a registrar in Edinburgh and Glasgow with subsequent microsurgical fellowships in Melbourne and Toronto.

He has maintained an interest in training having previously been the regional training programme director in Yorkshire and the East Midlands and Chair of the SAC in Plastic Surgery for the UK and Republic of Ireland.

He is an FRCS(Plastic Surgery) examiner and Professor of Surgical Education at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He currently undertakes medicolegal practice having completed in excess of 4000 reports, attended Court on numerous occasions and acts as an expert witness for the General Medical Council in fitness to practice tribunals.

He has been awarded a Doctorate in Education focusing on professionalism within Plastic Surgery particularly as to how different generations perceive this concept.

L. Scott Levin, MD, FACS

L.Scott Levin, MD, FACS, is the Paul B. Magnuson Professor of Bone and Joint Surgery (with tenure), Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Professor of Surgery (Plastic Surgery). He is also the Medical Director of the Penn Musculoskeletal and Rheumatology Service Line. He also serves as Vice President and Associate Dean for Resource Development at Penn Medicine. Dr. Levin is Board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Certificate of added Qualification in hand surgery. In addition, he is Board-certified in Plastic Surgery.

As an accomplished clinician, his expertise focuses on surgery of the hand and upper extremity, reconstructive microsurgical techniques for extremity reconstruction and limb salvage. His research interests focus predominantly on extremity soft tissue reconstruction and vascularized composite allotransplantation.

Dr. Levin heads the Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation (VCA) Program at Penn and directed the teams that performed bilateral hand and arm transplants, one in September 2011 and two international patients, one in August 2016 and then February 2019. In 2015, as Director of the Pediatric Hand Transplantation Program of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, he led the team that performed the world's first bilateral hand transplant in a child.

Widely published with more than 440 peer-reviewed journal articles, 98 book chapters and 12 books, Dr. Levin also actively participates in senior leadership activities of many international and national professional societies and associations including President of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, President of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, member-at-large of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, President of the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation and member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  Dr. Levin is responsible for developing the field of "Orthoplastic Surgery" and currently is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Orthoplastic Surgery (Elsevier).

Attendance

Limited to registered Surgeons, RMOs, Registrars, Plastic Surgery Trainees, Allied Staff, Medical students.  Trade Exhibitors and Sponsors should contact the Conference Organiser for registration information.   The Organising Committee reserves the right to refuse any registration at their discretion. 

Delegates attending the ASM will receive access to view the recorded sessions post event (recordings are not available livestream and exclude AGM, social functions and the Thursday workshop). 

Delegates registered for Access to Recorded Sessions (ASM only): will be able to access recordings one week post event, this registration does not include in-person attendance.

Payment

All fees are in New Zealand Dollars.  Payment will be accepted by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only), internet banking or international bank transfer. Standard fees will apply from 1 June 2024 and will be applied to registrations which remain unpaid. Registration must be paid prior to the commencement of the event. All Free Paper and Poster Presenters must be registered and attend the ASM in person.

Delegate fees in compliance with NZ Tax Law include 15% GST.

Cancellation Policy

Any cancellations or alterations should be put in writing (email) to the Conference Organiser.  Cancellations made up to 29 July 2024 will be refunded less admin fee of NZ$80.00. No refunds (including social event tickets) will be made for cancellations from 30 July 2024 onwards.

Refunds cannot be made due to travel delay or disruption. The event WILL NOT be livestreamed.  If for any reasons beyond the control of the organisers, the conference is cancelled, registration fees will be refunded after deduction of expenses.

Social Functions / Programme

Where social functions are included with registration, delegates must indicate their attendance.  Functions will be closed off once maximum numbers have been reached.  Day only registration is not available for the Meeting.

The Meeting Dinner is limited in number of attendees and  excluded from the registration but may be purchased as a separate ticket.

Special diets may attract an additional charge.  Conference Organisers reserve the right to change the programme without notice.

Accommodation

Accommodation is booked directly with the hotel (see accommodation section).  The delegate should note the cancellation policy for their chosen hotel when making the direct booking.  It is the attendees responsibility to notify the hotel directly of any changes to bookings.

Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind.  It is strongly recommended that at the time you register for the conference and book your travel you take out an insurance policy of your choice.  The NZAPS, and Conference Organisers cannot take any responsibility for any participant failing to arrange their own insurance.
